All that we do at the Kingwood Church of Christ is based upon the two “Greats” in scripture.  First, we believe in and adhere to the “Greatest Command”.

Mark 12: 29 “The most important one,” answered Jesus, “is this: ‘Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one. 30 Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. ‘

Specifically, all of our members are encouraged to:

• Love the Lord their God with all their heart through pure and holy worship filled with the passion of the Holy Spirit.
• Love the Lord their God with all their soul through personal reflection and meditation upon God and His word.
• Love the Lord their God with all their mind through personal and congregational study of scripture.
• Love the Lord their God with all their strength through personal and congregational service to others.

Although, we encourage all members to actively pursue the love of God in all four elements (heart, soul, mind, and strength) of the Greatest Command, we recognize that while some people are more naturally inclined to one or two of the four elements, they have to work harder to develop the others and to be more comfortable with them.  In order to aid each other in this development, we incorporate the Second Greatest Command:

Mark 12: 31 The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself. ‘ There is no commandment greater than these.”

It takes patience, prayer, and especially a Godly love for each other to understand that other Christians are more comfortable in certain areas of Godly love than we are and vice versa.  Adhering to the Second Greatest Command instills Christ-like unity among a diverse fellowship of believers that leads to maturity within the body of Christ. 

Secondly, we believe in and adhere to the “Great Commission”:

Matthew 28: 18 Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

The first thing Jesus said to his disciples was “follow me”.  The last thing he said to them was “go and make disciples…” It is our glorious duty as followers of Christ to be extremely intentional about leading others to Christ through the proclamation of the gospel and to develop their faith by means of discipleship in Christ.  We do not believe “church” is something that happens on Sunday mornings.  We believe “church” is a way of life that mimics the life of our Lord Jesus Christ.
